infected client systems.
Damage clean-up services (DCS) works with
Officescan for real time client protection. It
can be deployed on a network for centralised
cleaning of any machine on that network. DCS
provides automatic removal of spyware, Viruses,
Trojans and Malware remnants from clients. DCS
is essential if the network has current
infections.
The most commonly deployed products used in
our solution are:
Trend Micro Officescan

POS (Point of sale) tills and back office PC’s.

and laptops) whilst the web based management
console controls the deployment of security
policies.
Trend Micro Control Manager

administration and monitoring of the Managed
Anti-virus Service.

With the ever increasing threats posed by the
interconnected world of the 21st century, and
growing volume of security breaches, ensuring
the external gateway and internal networks are
secure is paramount. The frequency of reports in
the press alerting us to this is alarming and
once breached the hackers, cyber thieves, and
organised internet fraudsters will use the
stolen data for a number of means. Many of these
breaches arise through viruses, cookies, malware
and spyware, the result of which is the real
potential to cause serious if not permanent
damage to the retailer and include:

Keeping your customers details safe
New measures to tackle theft of credit card
details are good for consumers, but costly for
retailers.
With the on-going increase of credit card fraud
new regulations were introduced by the major
credit card companies who formed the Payment
Card Industry council, (PCI). The PCI council’s
objective is to reduce credit card fraud and
through this all businesses must comply with the
new regulations with heavy fines being imposed
for non-compliance and security breaches.
To achieve compliance retailers must satisfy the
12 requirements set out by the PCI council. The
level to which this is required is determined by
the volume of credit card transactions processed
each year.
Retailers with the highest volume who are
therefore at the highest risk, will be required
to submit to annual audits and scans of their
systems.
CSCM’s Managed Anti-virus Solution (powered by
Trend) covers requirement 5 (of the PCI
standards) – Use and regularly update anti-virus
software. This combined with our partner PCI
compliance programme, will ensure retailers can
achieve and maintain compliance to the standard.
Should your organisation be concerned about PCI
compliance?
Payment Card Industry regulations apply to all
organisations and third party service providers
who store, process or transmit credit/debit card
data in particular the 16 digit Primary Account
Number (PAN). If you fall into these categories,
PCI compliance is not a request, it is a
requirement.
There are 1 of 4 levels into which the merchant
will be assessed based on the volume of
transactions processed each year. Failure to
comply can result in heavy fines and removal of
the merchant’s ability to process credit card
transactions. The cost of compliance will also
rise significantly in the event of a security
breach as the merchant will be forced to conduct
the compliance assessment at level 1.
